The Fool’s Gold is “inspired” by the Earthquaker Devices Acapulco Gold, which aims at reproducing the sound of a cranked Sunn Model T. I think it is not very close to it (The Coda Effects Black Hole will do a better job), but is is a very nice distortion for doom and stoner rock afficionados.

It is a heavy distortion with lots of bass, with one simple volume control. It is possible to mod it to have a gain knob control (presented in the build doc). The PCB is made for 1590B Hammond enclosures.

High quality PCB:

• Gold-plated pads
• Double sided FR4-TG circuit boards
• Spaced pads for easier soldering

It is a very good pedal for starting: it is really easy to make and has a low part count.
